A plastic kayak is going to hold up better than a fiberglass one especially if you ever get around rocks quite a bit. A rock could potentially crack the fiberglass where as a plastic one is not going to crack. The only benefit that I know to a fiberglass kayak is the drag is less, but unless you are paddling everyday you wouldn't be able to tell alot of difference. For the money, the plastic kayak is your best all around boat for your money.
